KFWB WEBSITE PROMOTES CHARITY GOLF EVENTS
Last July KFWB NEWS 98 launched a new service on its award-winning
website, kfwb.com, called CHARITY GOLF ONLINE. Hosted by KFWB
Sports Anchor ERIC TRACY, the service has been an overwhelming
success. In the first 5 months of existence over 500 local
charity golf tournaments, played on more than 80 Southern
California courses, used the guide to publicize their fund-raising
events free of charge. Next year as many as 1500 tournaments
will turn to KFWB NEWS 98 to help their fund-raising efforts.
Charity golf tournaments raise millions of dollars every
year for worthy causes. These tournaments offer golfers the
chance to play on many public and private courses not otherwise
available to them. With just a mouse click, golfers check
a 6-month schedule of upcoming tournaments registered online
by the charity organizers. It's a win-win situation for the
charities and the golfing public.
Tracy, who came up with the idea and created the site, has
been very involved in the charity golf community for more
than 20 years. Playing in or serving as Master of Ceremonies
for dozens of events annually tournament organizers often
asked him for advice on getting publicity for their tournament.
"That's how the idea was born" Tracy said, "The
KFWB Charity Golf Online Guide was created to give charities
the resource to announce the "when and where" of
their fund-raising tournaments".
Susan Harrison, Regional Director of Sales for American Golf
Corporation who own or manage 20 Southern California courses
said she's heard the complaints and frustration all the time.
"We host over 5000 charity tournaments a year in Southern
California and tournament chairmen always want advice on how
to let the public know about their events. We applaud KFWB's
gracious effort to use space on their website as a clearinghouse
for these events and we are gladly directing organizations
who book tournaments with us to visit kfwb.com."
Bob Thomas, Director of Communications for the 150,000 member
Southern California Golf Association (SCGA), also expressed
excitement about the KFWB Charity Golf Online Guide. "Charity
tournaments raise millions of dollars annually throughout
Southern California and anything that helps that process increase
is very, very welcome. "FORE Magazine" the official
publication of the SCGA also directs it's readers to kfwb.com
for a current listing of available tournaments.
KFWB NEWS 980 (980 on the AM Dial) continues to serve as
Southern California's ONLY All-News Radio Station with around-the-clock
news and information, sports, business reports and the most
reliable "Traffic on the Ones!" Each month, millions
of Southern Californians log on to kfwb.com website. One of
the more popular pages is the Lexus Golf Update featuring
everything from tournament scores to instruction, humor and
more!
HOW DOES THE "KFWB CHARITY GOLF ONLINE GUIDE" WORK?
Tournament organizers and golfers will log on to kfwb.com
and click on "CHARITY GOLF." The page will give them two link
options - (1) Current Schedule of Tournaments
and (2) Register Your Tournament Here.
It's that easy!
The Current Schedule of Tournaments link will have a 3-month
calendar featuring dozens of tournaments in Los Angeles, Orange
County, Ventura and San Bernardino/Riverside county areas.

form.
